Sudden downpour floods Metro Manila streets

Several roads in Metro Manila were flooded Wednesday afternoon after a thunderstorm brought heavy rain in the National Capital Region and nearby provinces.

Tweets posted by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said MacArthur Highway in Valuenzuela is not passable to all types of vehicles as of 4:30 p.m.

Gutter-deep flood, meanwhile, was reported on the loading bays along EDSA Aurora and Farmers Market, but all lanes are passable.

In Scout Lozano corner Tomas Morato in Quezon City, floods reached waist level.


Flash floods outside the capital

PAGASA issued an advisory past 3 p.m. saying that a thunderstorm was also affecting parts Cavite, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna and Zambales. 
 
Affected areas included:
  • Bulacan: San Jose del Monte, Meycauyan, Tungko
  • Metro Manila: Caloocan, Navotas, Quezon City (Balintawak, Novaliches, Tandang Sora)
  • Rizal (Rodriquez)
  • ‎Cavite (Ternate)
  • Laguna (Rizal, San Pablo)
  • ‎Zambales
 
It advised residents to take measures against heavy to torrential rain, strong winds, lightning and possible flash floods.
 
A thunderstorm also affected Nueva Vizcaya (Kasibu, Dupax del Norte and del Sur) 
 
PAGASA said a thunderstorm is likewise affecting the Bicol Region, including:
 
  • Albay (Daraga, Camalig, Jovellar, Polangui, Ligao)
  • Romblon (Tablas Island)
  • Camarines Sur (Naga City, Partido Area)
  • Sorsogon (Donsol, Pilar)
  • Mindoro Oriental
 
In the Visayas, PAGASA said light to moderate rain affected:
 
  • Bohol (Calape, San Isidro, Antequera, Loon, Balilihan, Loboc, Dimiao, Bilar, Ubay)
  • Leyte (Palompon, Villaba, Matag-ob, Ormoc City, Kananga, Capoocan, Jaro, Alang alang, San Miguel, Barugo, Carigara, Dagami, Burauen, Albuera, Baybay City, Maasin City, Matalom, Padre Burgos)
  • Negros (Santa Catalina, Valencia, Pamplona Tanjay, Bayawan City, Mabinay, Kabankalan City, Ilog)
  •
