Las Piñas police investigators are not ruling out foul play in the case of the couple who died in an alleged food poisoning incident last week.

A report on GMA-7's "24 Oras" on Monday said that the police is now focusing their investigation on the fact that the Jose Maria and Juliet Escano stayed inside their parked AUV for almost five hours.

According to the police report, the couple stopped and parked at Evia Mall in Daang Hari Road, Las Piñas at around 2:40 p.m. Jose Maria was found unconscious outside his vehicle. His wife Juliet also in the same state was found inside the vehicle.

A GMA News source revealed that the autopsy said the couple suffered from internal bleeding due to ingestion of foreign chemical or harmful substance.

The source also said that the investigators are also waiting for the toxicology examination of the vomit found inside the couple's AUV. A bottle of juice and a cup found inside the vehicle are also undergoing laboratory examination. Results will be out within three to five days.

Police forensic examination led by Senior Inspector Reah Cornelio previously revealed that the deaths of the Escanos were caused by "shock, secondary to ingestion of toxic substance."

The investigators have already requested the Philippine National Police Cybercrime Division to enhance the CCTV video to see the movements that happened inside the AUV.

"Para magbigay linaw duon sa pwedeng anong nangyari along the way from umaga hanggang sa gabi na nadiskubre sila," Las Piñas Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Rey Viloria said.- Trisha Macas/NB, GMA News
