Driver in hit-and-run incident traced using license plate that came off his car

A motorist was able to trace another motorist who collided with his car and then allegedly fled without taking responsibility for the damage he caused. The license plate of the car that hit Aldrick Ouano's vehicle fell off and Ouano said the Land Transportation Office helped him trace the driver.

GMA News' early evening newscast "24 Oras" reported on Tuesday that Aldrick Ouano was able to track down Lindon Pedronio with the help of the Land Transportation Office. Ouano reported the incident to the La Loma Police Station of the Quezon City Police District.

According to Ouano and supporting footage from closed-circuit television footage, Pedrono backed into his car just outside a store along Baco Street.

"Pagbalik niya dun sa sasakyan niya, tiningnan niya yung tama sa kotse niya," witness Josh Migante said.

Ouano said the suspect tried to intimidate him. He said Pedronio name-dropped a high-ranking military officer.

"Sabi po nila, basta kailangang sumama ka sa 'min dahil sabi ng tatay ko pumunta tayo sa police station. E 'di tinanong ko po, sino po 'yung tatay nila? Ang sabi nila, nag-name drop po sila ng general. General daw 'yung tatay nung kasama niya," Ouano said.

GMA News tried to get the side of the Pedronio. It was Pedronio's grandmother who spoke to GMA News to deny the accusation against her grandson.

She said Ouano is making it difficult for them to file their car insurance claim because the police report has not yet been released.

She also said her grandson has informed his mother of the accident. The mother is the owner of the car, according to Pedronio's grandmother.  —Rie Takumi/ELR, GMA News
