Trailer truck crashes into sedan in Pasig City killing two

The driver and passenger of a sedan were killed after a 22-wheel trailer truck slammed into the car along Pasig City's Ortigas Avenue early Friday morning, GMA 7 news program "24 Oras" reported.



According security camera footage, the trailer truck first crashed into a six-wheeler truck before slamming into the car, killingDonnovan Capa and Beverly Victoriano. The two passengers in the trailer truck were also injured in the crash.

"Galing red light yung mga truck at yung kotse nakahinto sa harap pati yung katabing truck. Ngayon, 'tong truck na bumangga galing likod, rumaragasa 'yan. Nasapul niya 'tong kotse, dire-diretso sa concrete barrier," said PO3 Maurino Tuazon.

The driver of the six-wheeler, Mark Jervine Orolfo, said he saw the sedan get flipped over. But he did not know what happened to it until he got out of his truck. "Pagtama niya sa 'kin, yung kotse sa kabila, 'di ko na napansin. Kala ko naka-diretso na. 'Pag baba ko, 'yun, na-ipit na pala," Orolfo remembered.

Trailer truck driver Aaron Gutierrez said that he had tried everything to prevent the crash. "Ang inisip ko, tatamaan ko na. Ihinila ko na yung hand brake. Tapos, pati yung trailer brake, hinila ko na rin. Nag-release na rin ako ng tersera para huminto yung truck," Gutierrez said.

"Talagang tatamaan ko yung mga kotse. Ang ginawa ko, banggain ko na yung [six-wheeler] truck para wala na akong maidamay na iba. 'Di ko naman alam na may [kotse] pa pala," he added.

Gutierrez faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and damage to property. — Rie Takumi/DVM, GMA News
