Mall sale shopper catches mobile phone snatcher in the act

A thief was caught red-handed after she snatched the mobile phone of a shopper during a Quezon City mall sale, a report from GMA's “24 Oras” said Thursday.

 

In the report by Oscar Oida, Quezon City Police District Investigator PO3 Teotimo Daguman warned the public of more people posing as shoppers as the Christmas season nears.

 

“'Pag maraming tao sisiksik sila, bubundol-bundulin ka hanggang sa makuha na nila 'yung gamit,” he said.

 

The victim said she noticed the suspect Grace Lyn Layos and two of her companions but didn't mind them at first.

 

“Tumitingin ako ng damit kaso may sumisiksik sa aking tatlong babae pero di ko pinansin dahil di ko naman alam na mandurukot sila,” she said.

 

But she immediately blew their cover after the suspects snatched her mobile phone. 

 

“Hahanapin ko cellphone ko kasi titignan ko kung tumawag 'yung husband ko. 'Pag tingin ko sa pouch na kukuhanan ko ng cellphone ko wala na 'yung pouch ko pero nakita ko may kamay pang pumasok sa bag ko,” she said.

 

Only Layos, who admitted to the crime, was caught while her two companions were able to flee. The victim's mobile phone was not recovered.

 

The victim will press charges against the suspect.

 

“Kasi 'yung mga ganyang klaseng tao uulit-ulitin nila 'yan. Hindi sila madadala,” she said. —Andrei Medina/JDS/KG, GMA News
