Members of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group underwent training on Land Transportation Office traffic rules on Sunday in preparation for deployment to EDSA on Monday.

According to a report on "24 Oras Weekend", a second batch of HPG personnel will undergo training next Friday because there were too many of them to fit in the seminar room.

Highway Patrol personnel who pass the day-long seminar will get certification, the report said.

The 130 HPG — up from the initial 90 to be deployed to EDSA, but less than the 150 announced on Satruday — will be sent to six chokepoints on the main highway:  Balintawak, Cubao, Ortigas, Shaw Boulevard, Guadalupe, and Taft Avenue.

"Hindi lang po sa mga buses o taxi yung ating paghihigpit, para po ito sa lahat... wala na pong pakiusap," P/Supt. Oliver Tanseco, HPG spokesman, said.

HPG personnel caught taking bribes from motorists face criminal and administrative charges. Motorists who bribe, or try to bribe the HPG officers will also be charged.

"Pinahiram ng [Metro Manila Development Authority] yung high-resolution CCTV cameras kung mayroong kailangan ma-identify at gawing ebidensiya, gagamitin po natin iyan," Tanseco said.
