Motorist killed in traffic brawl in Pasig
A motorist was killed in what appears to be an incident of road rage on the suspect's part in Pasig City on Tuesday night.
According to a report on GMA's “24 Oras” on Thursday, 59-year-old businessman Delio Bathan was killed in a physical altercation with another driver on Ortigas Avenue extension.
"Nang makita silang nagsusuntukan, naiwan itong isa, umalis itong kasuntukan. Inabot na lang ng witness natin itong ating biktima nakahiga doon sa ibabaw ng hood ng kanyang sasakyan,” Pasig police chief investigator Senior Insp. Obet Garcia said.
The victim was declared dead on arrival after being rushed to nearby Medical City. His death certificate indicated the cause of death as blunt traumatic injury to the head.
After a witness provided the authorities with the conduction sticker numbers of the white Mazda vehicle the suspect was driving, the Land Transportation Office traced the vehicle to a woman in Makati City. Authorities are attempting to get in touch with her to obtain more information on the suspect, a man believed to be about 40 years old.
A blog post by automotive journalist James Deakin said that the fight was caused by Bathan's car scratching the suspect's car.
While they declined to be interviewed on camera, Bathan's family told GMA's Jun Veneracion that they hoped there will be justice for their loved one. Bathan was supposed to walk his daughter down the aisle in a few months. — Andrei Medina/BM, GMA News
