Jeepney crashes into Lagusnilad underpass; 10 hurt

At least 10 people were hurt after a passenger jeepney crashed into the Lagusnilad underpass in Manila before dawn Wednesday.
 
Police, meanwhile, are looking for the jeepney driver escaped and took a pedicab to Tondo district after the accident.
 
A report on GMA News' Unang Balita said the injured passengers were given first aid at the sidewalk of Taft Avenue, where the jeepney was speeding before it fell into the underpass.
 
One passenger identified as Kevin Dierra told GMA News that the jeepney fell after avoiding a person crossing the avenue.
 
"Iyong drive mabilis ang pagtakbo. May iniwasan na tumatawid kaya pagkabig niya dito nahulog," Dierra said.
 
Responding policemen from the Manila Police District Station 5 said two of the passengers were seriously hurt, one of them was brought to the Philippine General Hospital.
 
A pedicab driver told police that the driver hailed him after the accident and asked to be dropped in Gagalangin, Tondo.
 
Pedicab driver Kevin Monreal said the jeepney driver also appeared hurt because his gray shirt was stained with blood.
 
Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the driver. —ALG, GMA News
