Jeepney driver assaults QC traffic enforcer
A phone camera caught a road altercation in which a jeepney driver assaulted a Quezon City traffic enforcer, GMA 7's “24 Oras” reported on Tuesday.
The footage showed the jeepney driver atop the enforcer, who was being repeatedly punched and kicked. The driver then ran to his jeep and sped away.
The Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety traffic enforcer, Isabelo Rodavia, said the assault occurred at the corner of East Avenue and Quezon Memorial Circle around 3 p.m.
Rodavia said he reprimanded the driver for blocking the street while waiting for passengers.
“Pinara ko po siya sa Commonwealth corner... Tinakbuhan na po ako di ko na po siya hinabol,” he said.
“Pag dating ko po... kasunod ko pala. Buti nga ho nakababa ako sa sasakyan ko. Pag baba niya po sa jeep sabay tulak na sa akin [tapos] suntok ng suntok na,” he added.
DPOS Traffic Division Head Dexter Cardenas said they will attempt to identify the driver through the jeepney's plate - TWX 106.
“I-verifiy natin sa LTO (Land Transportation Office) para malaman natin kung sino 'yung operator and from them malalaman natin kung sino 'yung driver ng jeepney,” he said.
The jeepney driver will likely face charges for physical injuries. — Andrei Medina/DVM, GMA News
