2 foreigners nabbed for installing skimming device on QC bank's ATM
Police on Sunday morning arrested two foreigners after being caught placing a skimming device on an automated teller machine (ATM) in Quezon City.
A report by Jam Sisante on GMA News' Balitanghali on Sunday identified the suspects as 24-year-old Romanian national Gabriel Varga and 25-year-old Malaysian national Milna Kamilia a.k.a Mila.
Superintendent Pedro Sanchez, commander of the Quezon City Police District's Kamuning station, said a bank's branch in Tomas Morato area reported last December 6 that two foreigners installed a skimming device on their ATM. They immediately conducted an operation, but the two foreigners escaped.
On Sunday, the bank reported that the two foreigners have returned and again installed a skimming device on the same ATM.
Policemen immediately went to the bank's branch and arrested the duo.
Sanchez believes that the two foreigners are part of a syndicate operating in Metro Manila.
Charges for violations of Republic Act 8484 or the Access Device REgulation Act and Republic Act 8792 or the E-Commer Law will be filed against the two foreigners. —ALG, GMA News
