Suspended barangay tanod kills boy, hurts 2 more in New Year's Eve shooting

A seven-year-old boy died after a suspended barangay watchman fired at them during a birthday celebration in Taguig City on New Year's Eve.

A report on GMA's 24 Oras identified the victim as Marc Angelo "Macmac" Diego went into a coma due to a bullet wound in the head, and eventually died at the Ospital ng Makati on Friday night.

The boy's family and their friends were celebrating the New Year's Eve and his father's birthday when suspended barangay watchman Raymundo Liza fired at them.

Liza, a watchman in Barangay Southside, Makati City, was apparently irked by the noise coming from the Diego family's celebration.

John Edward Pascual, friend of the boy's father, was critically injured in the chest and abdomen. Another friend of the boy's father, Israel Lava, was also hurt.

The Makati and Taguig police stations have launched a joint operation to arrest the suspect. —ALG, GMA News
