Man killed after jumping in front of PNR train in Manila
The Philippine National Railways (PNR) confirmed that a man was run over and killed by one of its trains on Thursday afternoon.
Initial information available from the PNR indicates that a man was reported to have jumped across the barrier at the Blumentritt Station of the railway system at 03:30 p.m on Thursday.
"This person, lalake, more or less 50 to 60 years old. He jumped in front of the train, nakaladkad siya," Paul De Quiros, spokesperson of the PNR, said in a phone interview.
De Quiros said that the man was run over by a southbound train which was already approaching the station.
"Nagstastart na yun mag-break. Practically nagbe-break na kasi malapit na sa station," he said.
The man has not yet been identified, but has already been brought to a nearby funeral place in Severino Street.
Due to the incident, operations of the PNR were slightly delayed but have already fully resumed, according to De Quiros.
"The operations, it will not stop. Madedelay lang ng konti... It will not be delayed by more than 30 minutes. May kaunting investigation on the area," he said.
Officials of the PNR are now investigating the incident. -NB, GMA News
