MMDA constable hurt after falling off hood of speeding taxi
A taxi driver has taken a Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic constable for a ride, literally... and on the hood of his vehicle!
A report by Chino Gaston on "24 Oras" on Monday said the constable, Rolando Perez, suffered injuries when he fell from the hood of the taxi as it was speeding along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
A CCTV footage showed a Joannian Taxi, driven by one Ramon Guerrero Talan, swerving repeatedly with Perez on its hood. When they reached the Commonwealth flyover, Perez fell while the taxi sped off.
Perez was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment, the report said.
"Doon sa taxi driver, panagutan niya ang nangyari sa asawa ko. Siraulo siya. Gumawa man siya ng kasalanan niya, dapat hindi niya ginawa sa asawa ko. Binangga pa niya," said Angel Perez, the victim's wife.
It was not clear how Perez ended up on the taxi's hood.
The report said the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LFTRB) will recommend the suspension of Talan's license.
Ariel Inton, LTFRB board member, said that they are going to send a show cause order to the operator of the taxi.
"Iyong pag-aayos ng civil liability, assuming na naayos, ay nangangahulugan na wala na siyang pananagutan sa batas. Pangalawa, kapag nalaman namin na naayos iyang ng operator, at parang kinukinsite niya ang kanyang driver, eh dapat siguro, magsama sila ng driver niya,” he said.
The MMDA, on the other hand, already went to see the operator.
According to a dispatcher of the Joannian Taxi, Talan has been their driver for seven months.
"Pwede pag-usapan namin iyan, tanungin namin siya kasi hindi pa namin narinig side niya eh," Leo Ballar, the dispatcher, said. —Trisha Macas/KBK, GMA News
