Two bus companies have been meted with sanctions including cancelation of franchises for violations committed during the Christmas season.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said the sanctions were meted out on Dimple Star Transport and CUL Transport.

Citing a resolution signed Monday, the LTFRB said it has canceled the franchise of 10 units of the Dimple Star Transport and six units of CUL Transport for colorum operations.

Aside from the cancelation of franchises of 10 of its units, Dimple Star Transport was also fined P1 million pesos for colorum operations and an additional P5,000 fine for incorrect route markings.

On the other hand, CUL Transport was fined P1 million for having colorum operations.

The bus companies' violations were discovered when the LTFRB conducted terminal bus inspections during its Oplan Krismas operation.

"LTFRB marks its words when it gave warning to those who would violate its Orders, Memorandum Circulars," said LTFRB board member Ariel Inton in a statement. —Kiersnerr Gerwin Tacadena/KBK, GMA News
