ROAD ADVISORY

Heavy traffic in Sucat Road due to Maynilad project

Motorists on Friday were warned to expect moderate to heavy traffic along Dr. A. Santos Ave. (Sucat Road) in Parañaque City due to a sewer network project by water utility concessionaire Maynilad that will start Monday.

Maynilad Water Services, Inc. will be installing 350mm- to 1,350mm-diameter sewer pipes along the west-bound side (Baclaran-bound) of Dr. A. Santos Ave., from the corner of Soreena Ave. (Shopwise) to the corner of C.P. Garcia Extension (SM Sucat).

One of the three west-bound lanes along Dr. Arcadio Santos Ave. will be closed to traffic during the duration of the project while two lanes will be closed at night.

An eastbound lane will be made available for counterflow traffic when needed.

Meanwhile, U-turn slots will be used when a section of the work requires temporary closure of an intersection.

Paranaque City’s Traffic Management Office will be deploying additional traffic enforcers to the site.

Maynilad said that its Sewer Network Project involves the laying of 77 kilometers of sewer lines that will convey wastewater generated by households to the company’s Parañaque Sewage Treatment Plant.

The project is set to be completed in the third quarter of 2017, Maynilad added. — APG, GMA News
