Taguig Mayor Cayetano wins new mandate

Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano won her reelection bid and has been proclaimed as winners early Tuesday morning, GMA's Athena Imperial reported.

The proclamation was done about 2:20 a.m. in Taguig City. Cayetano garnered 225, 496 votes while Vice Mayor Ricardo Cruz Jr. was also re-elected with 222, 172 votes.

The candidates for mayor and vice mayor ran unopposed.

First District Rep. Arnel Serafica, a Liberal Party candidate, gained 81, 143 votes.

Cayetano's sister-in-law, Senator Pia Cayetano garnered 94,228 votes to gain the position of Second District representative.

The winning candidates were not present when the proclamation was made by the Board of Election Canvassers in Taguig City. But the representatives of political parties have agreed that the proclamations can be made even without the candidates. — BAP, GMA News
