Mark Villar reelected as Las Piñas representative


Las Piñas City Rep. Mark Villar has been elected to his third term in Congress.

According to Kimberly Joy Alzate-Cu, Las Piñas City election officer, Villar was proclaimed winner at 3:25 a.m. Tuesday.

Villar won with 174,533 votes, or 86.5 percent of the results, against two other independent candidates vying for the lone legislative district seat.

In a statement, he thanked his constituents in Las Piñas, which has 304,311 registered voters.

Villar is the son of Nacionalista Party president and former senator Manny Villar and Sen. Cynthia Villar.

He had considered running for the Senate , but ditched the plan and sought a reelection instead. —ALG, GMA News
