Clearing operations on collapsed crane in Makati still ongoing
Clearing operations around the area in Makati City where a tower crane collapsed have continued nearly 24 hours after the incident.
Unang Balita reported Friday morning that construction workers needed to remove the crane part by part because of its massive weight.
The crane collapsed on Thursday at around 7:50 a.m. at a condominium construction area, hitting electric posts and causing power outage in Makati's Salcedo and Urdaneta Villages.
A taxi driver and a bicycle rider were injured in Thursday's incident and were brought to a nearby hospital. The crane owner promised to shoulder all medical expenses of the victims.
As of posting time, the cause of the crane’s collapse was still unknown.
Meanwhile, the power supply in affected Makati villages have been fully restored.
The Department of Labor and Employment has ordered the temporary suspension of the condominium’s construction. —Kiersnerr Gerwin Tacadena/LBG, GMA News
