LTFRB gives tips how to identify legit UV Express units
After the robbery-rape incident that took place inside a colorum passenger van, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) listed some tips that would help commuters identify legitimate UV Express vehicles.
According to a report in News to Go on Friday, legitimate UV Express vans are found in accredited terminals.
The vehicles should be clearly labeled as a UV Express. Also stated on the van's body are the LTFRB hotline, its authorized route, and the name and number of its operator.
UV Express units under a legitimate franchise are safe and easier to track down in case of accidents.
Last Friday, two women aboard a colorum UV Express van were allegedly raped by suspects Alfie “Buddy” Turado and the van driver, Wilfedo Lorenzo as they went around Caloocan City.
They also took P16,000 cash and cellphones from the victims.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo was nabbed and has already undergone inquest proceedings for charges of rape, robbery and illegal possession of drugs.
