Cops include co-teachers, parents, students in probe on Ateneo HS teacher's killing

Police have included as persons of interest some co-teachers, students and parents in its investigation on the killing of an Ateneo high school teacher in Marikina City on Monday night.

A News TV Live report said that Marikina City police investigators suspect that the killing of Emmanuel Jose Pavia, 24, could be a handiwork of a professional killer.

Pavia was math teacher at the Ateneo de Manila junior high school.

The report said that according to the police, someone who is extremely angry at Pavia could have paid the hired gun.

Senior Superintendent Lorenzo Holanday, Marikina City police chief, said that Pavia was shot thrice -- two in the head and one at the back of his body -- by the assailant.

Police investigators said that the killer could have studied the daily routine of Pavia, who always walks to his home in Barangay Barangka.

The killing happened at Dela Costa Homes in Barangay Barangka at past 7 p.m. The victim died while being treated at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center.

Police investigators have ruled out the angle of robbery-homicide because the victim's personal belongings were still in his bag.

Investigators are trying to get the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area to see the actual shooting. —Kiersnerr Gerwin Tacadena/ALG, GMA News
