Murder suspect, arresting officer killed in Makati City
A murder suspect was killed in Makati City after alledgedly grabbing a gun and shooting a police officer on Wednesday evening, GMA's Vonne Aquino reported on "Unang Balita."
The shooting happened after members of the Regional Police Intelligence Operatives unit of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) served an arrest warrant against murder suspect Angelo Tampos in a house along Constancia Street, Barangay Olympia in Makati City.
According to the "Unang Balita" report, police records show that the Makati Regional Trial Court had issued the arrest warrant against Tampos back on March 10, 2015.
The police alleged that Tampos grabbed the firearm of SPO4 Edmar Bumagat then shot and killed the said police officer.
Another police officer then repotedly shot and killed Tampos.
However, an alleged witness told GMA News' Aquino a different story, claiming that Tampos was still inside the house when Bumagat was shot.
"'Yung sinasabi po nilang si Angelo [Tampos] 'yung bumaril sa pulis, pero hindi po siya," the alleged witness told Aquino.
The purported witness also claimed that Tampos begged for his life as he was a father to a baby.
The alleged witness also told Aquino that a gun was reportedly placed near the murder suspect, saying "Lalaki po, binaba niya po 'yung baril sa tabi po ni Angelo, sa may bandang balikat niya po."
Recovered from the scene were an M16 rifle and a 9-mm pistol. Authorities are now investigating the shooting incident.
