Kin of dead inmates suspect foul play in Parañaque city jail blast
The families of the inmates who were killed in the grenade explosion at the Parañaque City Jail suspect foul play in the deaths of their loved ones, Mariz Umali reported on "24 Oras" on Friday.
Tapos makakapasok pa ba yung granada doon," said Cindy, a cousin of inmate Warren Manampen, one of the ten inmates killed in the Thursday night blast.
The wife of inmate Jonathan Ilas, another casualty, believe their deaths were planned.
She said some of the inmates involved could have been rushed to the hospital.
"Planado yun. On the spot patay na silang sampu," said Cristina King.
Unlike the ten who died on the spot, she said the warden Jail Superintendent Gerald Bantag was brought to the hospital for treatment.
Police investigation showed that the ten inmates were supposedly scheduled to meet the warden to discuss the transfer of some inmates from their respective cells.
Reports have it that there were explosions before gun shots were heard.
A letter given to GMA News from the other inmates alleged that the inmates were killed because of their alleged involvment in illegal drugs.
It said that no riot occured on Thursday night.
Authorities assured that there will be no whitewash in the investigation. —NB, GMA News
