Four suspected drug users and pushers were killed in Brgy. Bagong Silangan, Quezon City after allegedly engaging arresting police officers in a shootout, authorities said Monday.

Police Senior Insp. Emil Garcia of Police Community Precinct 4 said the incident took place while police officers were conducting Oplan Tokhang in Upper Empire.

Garcia said the operating policemen fired back on the suspects after being fired at upon entering the room of the suspects who were allegedly having a pot session.

The policemen recovered weighing scales, drug paraphernalia, and Caliber .45 revolvers.

Garcia said policemen from QC have been receiving many complaints against the suspects allegedly linked to illegal drugs.

He added the Philippine National Police is serious in its campaign against illegal drugs.

Garcia did not identify the names of the slain suspects.

The relatives of the suspects claimed they did not resist arrest and said unidentified civilians were behind the shooting of their family member. — Joseph Tristan Roxas/RSJ, GMA News
