The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) has filed several complaints against Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and his brother, Councilor Hero Bautista, in connection with the supposed proliferation of illegal drugs in the city.

The administrative and criminal complaints were filed with the Office of the Ombudsman on Friday, according to a report by GMA News' Rod Vega on QRT.

The Bautista brothers were charged with dishonesty, neglect of duty, misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service.

VACC said it based its complaints on Hero's admission that he dabbled in illegal drug use.

The anti-crime group also said Hero, who took a leave from the City Council to undergo drug rehabilitation, should vacate his post.

Hero won his first term as city councilor in the May 9 elections.

Under the QC Drug Free Workplace Ordinance, chronic users and drug dependents shall be submitted to a mandatory six-month treatment and rehabilitation in a government rehabilitation center.

When employees again test positive after the rehab treatment, he or she may be suspended or dismissed under Civil Service Commission regulations.

The anti-crime group also said it is mulling a separate complaint against the entire Quezon City council.
