Even the houses of former President Fidel Ramos and Senator Panfilo Lacson were not spared from the PNP's Oplan Tokhang at the exclusive Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City.

A report from Mark Salazar on 24 Oras showed that the homes of the public figures were among those visited by police officers. Only house helpers were present to meet the police officers.

Oplan Tokhang is the police's door-to-door campaign against illegal drugs.

In other communities, the operations include convincing drug suspects to surrender.

Lacson is a former PNP chief while Ramos is a former chief of the Philippine Constabulary.

The Muntinlupa Police also visisted the house of one of the Alabang Boys, a group previously implicated in illegal drug activities.

A shabu laboratory allegedly operated by five Chinese nationals was discovered in Ayala Alabang in 2010, while another mini-shabu lab owned by three Taiwanese was raided in the village in May.

Ayala Alabang Homeowners Association president Antonio Laurel said one in three mansions inside the posh village were for rent.

Laurel said drug syndicates prefer establishing laboratories in the village for its strict security.

"Alam nila secure, hindi sila mare-raid dahil mahigpit ang aming security. Yun pala kapag nakapasok na akala nila they can do anything. Hindi totoo yon," he said.

Laurel said the association is now screening prospetive residents more thoroughly.

"Ngayon, dahil dun pati applications lahat iniiscreen namin lahat di gaya dati tanggap lang ng tanggap," Laurel said.

Meanwhile, Muntinlupa Police chief Senior Supt. Nicolas Salvador lauded the cooperation of the homeowners since the integrity of their village is at stake.

"Nagiging cooperative na rin ang homeowners security dahil naapektuhan ang integrity ng village," Salvador said.

"This is good to prevent this drugs, drugs na yan," said a resident.

The report added the village's homeowners association tipped the police that five "for rent" houses in Ayala Alabang are suspected to have illegal activities.

"Hindi drugs e. Mga activity nila ay puro cybercrime, cyber-gambling, hacking of credit cards... Yun nga, bukas sa gabi, nagko-computer, cybersex puwede rin yan," Laurel said.

Before the Oplan Tokhang in Ayala Alabang, the Southern Police District already conducted the anti-illegal drug campaign in the exclusive subdivisions of Makati City: Forbes Park, Magallanes, Dasmariñas, and San Lorenzo Village. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/NB, GMA News
