Prices of flowers at Dangwa still up on eve of All Saints’ Day
Prices of flowers at Dangwa market in Manila continue to rise ahead of All Saint’s Day, with some varieties being sold at three times its usual price.
According to a report aired on News to Go Monday, the retail price for orchids has jumped from P300 to P650, while Malaysian mums can be bought for P300 per bundle, or double its usual price of P150.
Customers looking for roses would now have to shell out P300 or thrice its usual retail price of P100. Carnations are also P100 more expensive at P250.
While prices of flowers have gone up, buyers on a budget need not leave Dangwa empty-handed because they can buy blooms per piece.
For instance, a half bunch of flower varieties known as buttons and Jaguar can be bought at only P150.
Some stalls which started selling flowers a few days earlier have reduced the prices of their products.
As of Monday, several buyers are still flocking to Dangwa although the crowd is no longer as big as it was on Sunday. —Xianne Arcangel/ALG, GMA News
