A fire razed a portion of an impounding area at Valenzuela City Hall Tuesday night, GMA News’ Victoria Tulad said in an Unang Balita report on Wednesday.

According to Mark Daube, a security guard in the area, the fire started at around 11:30 p.m.

Daube said he tried to put out the fire using a fire extinguisher but it was already too big so he called the firefighters.

The fire reached the first alarm around midnight and the second alarm six minutes later, engulfing old vehicles, metal straps, tires, iron sheets and tarpaulins.

According to firefighters who responded, the fire was put under control at around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, but was not declared fire out right away.

Glenn Dela Cruz said.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of fire. Moreover, they have yet to determine the cost of property damage.
