Truckloads of trash removed from Manila Bay for ASEAN meet
Two truckloads of garbage were removed from the Manila Bay on Saturday as part of the local government's preparation for the four-day ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings next week.
A Balitanghali report said the Manila City local government's Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) led the cleanup drive at the Manila Bay.
Danilo Bron of the DPOS said the cleanup drive was part of the local government's preparation for the summit from April 26 to 29.
The report said the local government has also banned street vendors along the bay walk and people from swimming in the Manila Bay.
Malacañang has suspended work and classes in Metro Manila on April 28 for the summit.
Work in government offices in Pasay, Makati and Manila cities were also suspended on April 27. Suspension of classes in the three cities, however, will be up to school officials. —ALG, GMA News
