Alleged drug user shot dead in Tondo
A man was shot dead in a predawn shooting in Tondo, Manila on Tuesday.
Police said King James Niño, 24, of Barangay 27, Zone 6, Tondo, was standing along the street when an unidentified man approached and shot him in the head.
The incident happened before 5 a.m.
Princess Topacio, the victim's live-in partner, said they were on Quezon Street to meet a friend.
Police, however, said that Topacio gave them a different statement.
Police said that according to Topacio, a friend invited Niño to a shabu session.
It was learned that Niño had recently surrendered to the police under Project Tokhang, a program of the police where suspected drug offenders are given a chance to change.
Investigations are ongoing to identify the victim's shooter. —report from radio dzBB's James Agustin/ALG, GMA News
