P8-M worth of shabu seized in Pasay; Chinese national arrested

Two kilos of shabu worth P8 million were seized by authorities in a buy-bust operation in Pasay City on Wednesday night, a report on Unang Balita on Thursday said.

Arrested was the target of the operation, a Chinese national identified as alias Davidson, GMA News' Mav Gonzales reported.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - National Capital Region have been conducting surveillance on Davidson for almost a month before the buy-bust operation which was held at a casino in Pasay City.

PDEA RO NCR director Wilkins Villanueva said the transaction in the buy-bust operation was worth P1 million for one kilo of shabu. However they found another kilo in the suspect's possession.

Also recovered from the suspect was P250,000 in cash.

"Malaki itong taong ito. And we are still following it up, future operations," Villanueva said.

"Siya tumatanggap ng pera at nagpapasok ng pera sa bangko. In short, ito, taga-linis," he added.

The suspect however denied the allegations, saying the shabu and the cash are not his.

He said his business is in lumber, not illegal drugs, adding that his family is based in Davao.

Authorities are still investigating if the suspect is a member of a syndicate and where the drugs came from.

They are also looking into the suspect's identity and checking if his stay in the country is legal.

The suspect faces charges of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. —KG, GMA News
