MMDA chair Lim scores traffic enforcers not wearing crash helmets
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Danilo Lim on Monday scored the agency's two traffic enforcers caught on social media riding a motorcycle without wearing the required crash helmets.
A viral Facebook on Sunday showed two MMDA traffic enforcers riding a motorcycle along Roxas Boulevard not wearing the required crash helmets .
The post received almost 8,000 reactions, more than 10,000 shares, and 4,392 comments.
In a statement, Lim scolded the erring traffic constables, identified as Armando Lopez and Rodrigo Dayota, saying they should have been more courteous in answering the query of a motorists since they were the ones who violated traffic violations.
“Dapat magalang kayo sa pagsagot…hindi nakakatulong sa imahe natin ‘yan,” Lim said.
Lim, who was named MMDA chief last month, already ordered the MMDA's administrative staff to file appropriate sanctions against Lopez and Dayota.
“We will not tolerate such infractions even if they are committed by our own people -- those who are supposed to enforce the traffic rules and regulations in Metro Manila. But we will always be behind those who are dedicated in performing their jobs," he said.
Lim likewise vowed to the public that the MMDA will continue to "weed out the bad eggs" in the agency under his leadership. — Joseph Tristan Roxas/RSJ, GMA News
