Police probe case with possible link to Resorts World gunman

The police are investigating whether Resorts World gunman Jessie Carlos was involved in the vehicular accident in Paco, Manila wherein two men were found dead, GMA News' Ivan Mayrina reported on "24 Oras" on Thursday.

The investigation includes a CCTV footage, from the evening of June 1, showed a vehicle overturn in an intersection in Paco, Manila and a man going out of the said car and calmly walking away.

Two men were found dead inside the said vehicle, they were identified as Atty. Elmer Mitra and Alvin Cruzin, who were allegedly the last known companions of Carlos before he proceeded to Resorts World. The two men died from gunshot wounds.

Based on the investigation of the police, the man walking away from the vehicle was Carlos and that he was seen in another CCTV footage, this time from Barangay 339, Sta. Cruz in Manila, rushing to reach his home a few minutes past 10 p.m. on the same day.

The police also confirmed that Carlos was close to the victims. However, the motive of the shooting is not yet known.

Aside from the CCTV footage, there are also matching evidence taken from the vehicle and samples taken from the house of Carlos.

The Manila Police District - Homicide division also talked to people who knew Mitra and Cruzin and their connection to Carlos.

The police and the witnesses declined to give a comment. However, a source confirmed the close ties between the two victims and Carlos. But it is not clear whether Carlos has a motive that would prompt him to harm the victims.

Cruzin was buried on Wednesday but his family remained silent on the matter.

Jessie Carlos, armed with an M16 rifle, torched the casino area of Resorts World Manila then killed himself.
