Truck driver apologizes for deadly 19-vehicle pile-up on C5-Ortigas flyover
The driver of a 10-wheeler truck apologized for the 19-vehicle pile-up on the C5-Ortigas flyover on Tuesday, which left a motorcycle rider dead.
"Sorry. pasensiya na. 'Di ko sinasadya," Juan Mirabuena Esteban said.
The driver surrendered to the police after the accident.
In an earlier radio report, the pile-up happened when the truck driven by Esteban lost its brakes while trying to turn out of a busy lane
The truck, carrying sacks of wheat skins, hit other vehicles including two to three motorcycles. One motorcycle rider died.
The incident happened at around 10:45 a.m.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced that the northbound side of the flyover is now passable.
