A couple alleged to be engaged in the illegal drug trade were killed when a grenade exploded during a buy-bust operation in Caloocan City, a report on Unang Balita on Friday said.

Killed in the incident were Joseph Papa and his wife, whose name was not immediately available.

According to the police, they were on a buy-bust operation when Joseph threw a grenade.

They said the drug was about to be handed to the poseur when Papa got suspicious that they were transacting with authorities.

The accused then brought out a grenade and tried to lob it at the police officer.

The suspect missed, as the grenade hit a part of the house and bounced back before going off, killing him and his wife instantly. — Akari Nakano/MDM, GMA News
