Man killed, 2 minors wounded in QC shooting incident
A drug suspect was killed in front of his house while two minors were shot at close range by a still unidentified suspect in Payatas, Quezon City, according to the exclusive report of GMA News' Cesar Apolinario on "24 Oras" Tuesday.
In a CCTV footage, the drug suspect identified as Reynold Branada is seen cleaning up after floodwaters rose near his house on Monday.
After a while, the gunman arrived. The actual shooting incident cannot be seen in the footage but several people, who heard four gun shots, can be seen running away and looking for cover.
A witness, Vilma Japollo, related the events that occurred before and after the shooting incident.
"Doon doon umano siya tapos pumasok doon, tapos noong marinig namin 'yung isang putok, takbuhan na kami sa labas," she said.
Police Chief Insp. Nilo Padulaga related that there were more shots fired.
"Tapos nasundan pa 'yung putok na 'yun ng anim pang putok. Makikita natin na 'yung katawan ni Reynold ay nandodoon sa labas ng pinto ng kanyang bahay," he said.
Residents in the area said they heard more than ten gunshots before the suspect went out of Branada's house.
From the same footage, the suspect can be seen stepping out of the house, tucking his pistol in his waist as he walked away from the crime scene.
A few minutes after, residents can be seen carrying two minors, aged 13 and 14, outside the compound.
They were found to have gunshot wounds and were rushed to the hospital from treatment.
According to an initial police report, the minors were hit by stray bullets. However, the police later found that they were shot at close range.
The police are looking into illegal drugs as the motive of the killing.
"Kasi maliit lang 'yung kwarto ni Reynold eh. Nandoon 'yung dalawang bata. Doon nakita 'yung mga drug paraphernalia pati 'yung shabu saka 'yung mga patak patak ng dugo," Padulaga said.
The police recovered drug paraphernalia and suspected shabu inside Branada's house.
Meanwhile, Branada's kin declined to gave a statement on the incident. The police cannot find the relatives of the two minors. One of the relatives is allegedly the owner of the compound.
Meanwhile, it was learned that the mother of one of the injured minors has fled because she was afraid that she would be dragged into the incident.
The injured victims are now under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The police have a difficulty identifying the gunman because his head was covered when he committed the crime. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BAP, GMA News
