Off-duty Grab Express rider nabbed after delivering cocaine
A new modus operandi in the delivery of illegal drugs was reportedly uncovered after Pasig policemen on Monday arrested a motorcycle door-to-door courier, who yielded 28 to 30 grams of cocaine.
According to Chino Gaston's report on "24 Oras", the courier said he didn't know that he was carrying illegal drugs. He said he thought he was only delivering a gift for the person who hired him.
"'Yung pinadala po saking 'yun...actually, pang-regalo daw po, so nakabalt po siya as a gift po, regalo po, so hindi ko na po siya na-open po, na i-check po," the courier said.
The courier was an accredited Grab Express rider who made the deliveries for a long-time customer, who Pasig police believe is a big time drug dealer.
The ride-sharing and delivery service Grab said the courier didn't use its platform when he made the drug delivery.
"Our investigation showed that the Grad Express platform was not used at the time of the incident where he allegedly committed the crime of transporting illegal drugs, and for which he was apprehended by the Pasig City Police officers," Grab said on the report.
As a "precautionary measure," the drug courier's account was suspended. —Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
