Three of the seven "persons of interest" in the killing of Grab driver Gerardo Amolato Maquidato Jr. have been located and questioned by the police, GMA News' Saleema Refran reported on 24 Oras on Wednesday.

Police are still searching for four others who booked Maquidato hours before he was shot dead by suspects who also took his car along Bonanza Street in Pasay City on the night of October 26.

Maquidato's last passengers were three aircon technicians who booked a ride along Doña Noneng Street in San Juan to their office in Pasay.

Although police have witnesses, they have yet to identify the suspects.

Grab is offering P100,000 for information that could lead to the killers.

Maquidato's friends and family on Wednesday celebrated his 38th birthday during his wake. His widow, Brenda, said the suspect should've let her husband go if he was intending to take his vehicle.

"Sana pinagbigyan mo siya kasi alam ko nagmamakaawa siya sa 'yo para pakawalan mo. Kasi alam ko iniisip niya kami. Gusto niya umuwi, alam ko. Napakawalang puso," she said.

Maquidato was once praised on social media for giving a passenger on dialysis a free ride and helping their family after the passenger died.

Prior to becoming a Grab driver, Maquidato was the caregiver and driver of a Claretian priest. He left behind four sons, one of them only four years old. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
