Thieves break window screen, steal charging cellphone in QC
Thieves managed to destroy the window screen of a Quezon City apartment and steal a cellphone that was charging next to it, GMA News' Victoria Tulad reported for "24 Oras" on Tuesday.
Barangay Pasong Tamo residents Nickfred Velasquez and his wife woke early Tuesday morning to find someone reaching into their window.
"Pag-dilat ng mata ko, nakita ko pa 'yung kamay na gumanoon. Sabay sigaw, hinabol ko," Velasquez said.
Of the three men seen by neighbors running from the scene, barangay officials were able to corner a suspect identified as Boyet Maragondon.
At the police station, Maragondon insisted it was his two companions "Alex" and "Toto" who committed the crime.
The the police had yet to find the suspects as of the report.
"Nag-antay lang po ako asa kanila...Tapos sinabihan nila ako, tumakbo nalang daw," the suspect said.
Maragondon, who was caught carrying a gun holster, claimed he had no knowledge of what happened to the stolen cellphone.
Marco Galeza, a victim of a similar robbery last October, suspects that Maragondon's group are behind a series of related incidents within the neighborhood.
"Nakabukas lang kasi 'yung bintana ko sa gabi kasi nga mainit. So dinukot 'yung cellphone diyan sa loob," Galeza said.
"Pag-gising ko ng umaga, wala na 'yung telepono 'tsaka 'yung tablet," he added. — Margaret Claire Layug/BM, GMA News
