800 MRT passengers unloaded in Cubao due to ‘electrical failure’

Some 800 passengers of a southbound train of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT3) were unloaded on Tuesday night due to "electrical failure in the motor."

According to an advisory from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the passengers were unloaded at Araneta Center Cubao Station at 6:32 p.m.

They were loaded in the next train that arrived after seven minutes.

The DOTr said the possible cause of electrical failure in the motor could be "worn out electrical sub-components."

As for remedial measures, the DOTr said there is a need for "preventive maintenance and replacement of electrical components." —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
