A security guard at a compound in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City was shot to death by a fellow watchman over a disagreement on their shift assignments over the Christmas holidays.

According to Cesar Apolinario's report on "24 Oras", victim Jonas Paredes Sabellina was shot eight to nine times after confronting his fellow security guards about their holiday schedule.

Sabellina first approached Lennel Mejos, who claimed the he was assaulted by the victim.

Mejos then sought the help Marjon Cantila, who was on-duty at that time and armed with a 9 mm pistol.

Mejos claimed that Cantila only fired a warning shot before Sabellina supposedly tried to take the gun.

"Binanatan siya. Natamaan siya ng dalawang beses. Nakahiga," Mejos said.

Cantila fired at least five more shots at the victim's body after he collapsed onto the floor.

Cantila fled the scene, leaving behind his gun.

—Margaret Claire Layug/NB, GMA News
