15 hurt in UV Express-jeep collision in QC
Fifteen people, including a 17-year-old pregnant woman, sustained minor injuries due to a collision between a UV Express van and a passenger jeepney along West Avenue in Quezon City past 10 p.m. Monday night.
The 17-year-old was rushed to the hospital after complaining of pain in her stomach, and two UV Express passengers had to be checked up for dizziness.
The jeepney’s front was flattened and its hood destroyed. The van’s back end was likewise smashed in, according to a report by Victoria Tulad on Unang Balita on Tuesday.

The jeepney also plowed through the center traffic island after hitting the van.
The van’s driver, Romelito Namatay, said he had just stopped before a signal light when the jeepney slammed against the back of his vehicle. Arnel Obaldo, the jeepney driver, apologetically claimed he was not speeding and had lost his brakes.
But one passenger refuted Obaldo’s reasoning: “Hindi ako naniniwala sa kanya, mabilis talaga siya,” said Lisa Cadampog. —Nicole-Anne C. Lagrimas/KG, GMA News
