Motorist posing as a cop punches MMDA constable
A motorcycle driver who claimed he was a policeman was caught on video punching a traffic constable in Balintawak, Quezon City, GMA News' Nelson Canlas reported on 24 Oras on Wednesday.
A cellphone video taken by Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic constable Jinggoy Oli on Tuesday shows Ryan Christopher Bautista insisting that he was a police officer before punching the victim.
"Bigla na lang po niya ako pinagmumura. Sabi po niya na pulis daw siya. Under daw niya ako tapos sabi niya 'Gusto mo sampalin kita ng isang dangkal.' Yun, inumpisahan niya na ang pananakit sa akin," Oli said.
The altercation started when Oli responded after Bautista's motorcycle sideswiped an SUV.
When GMA News tried to speak with the 25-year-old Bautista in detention, he refused to directly answer questions. He was brought to the Quezon City Police District Station 3.
QCPD Station 3 chief Superintendent Danilo Mendoza said Bautista may be charged for pretending to be a police officer in addition to unjust vexation and direct assault.
"Kailangan magbigay ng affidavit 'yung ating constable. 'Yan pa ang ating pinag-aaralan at pwede natin siyang kasuhan ng pagkukunwari na siya ay pulis," Mendoza said. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
