3-year-old girl's kidnappers in Las Piñas arrested
Police recovered Wednesday morning the three-year-old girl kidnapped in Las Piñas and arrested two suspects.
Southern Police District head Chief Superintendent Tomas Apolinario identified the suspects as Giselle Omayan and Cerio Cinolete.
Omayan was arrested in Mabolo, Bacoor City and Cinolete was arrested in a follow-up operation, he said.
Apolinario said the woman suspect was initially arrested in Zapote, Las Piñas.
“After interrogation she admitted to the crime and divulged the name of her cohort and their location in Cavite leading to the arrest of the other suspect and the recovery of the missing minor,” he said.
Apolinario said the Las Piñas City Police Office arrested the suspects at around 5:30 a.m.
He said the three-year-old victim, Princess Louisana Bumatay, was kidnapped at around 10 p.m. last December 30, but the incident was reported to the police on January 2.
As shown in an earlier GMA News report, the kidnapping was caught by CCTV cameras in Barangay Daniel Fajardo.
The mother of the victim, Daisylyn, said her daughter asked permission to go to a nearby store to buy something.
She said she instructed her other child to follow Princess, but the sibling came back to tell her that the little girl could no longer be found.
Apolinario said the two suspects had initially planned to demand ransom from Princess' parents or sell her.
He said the suspects then decided that they would force the child to become a street beggar.
“Either ipapatubos or ibebenta sana iyong bata. Pero noong hindi nag-prosper ang plano nila ay gagawin na lang daw sana nila pagpapalimos sa kalye,” he said.
The police official said investigations are ongoing to determine if the suspects belong to a group.
