Marikina rape victim’s kin mulls raps vs. school execs; officials deny negligence
The parents of the 11-year-old student who accused a volleyball coach of rape and acts of lasciviousness are planning to file a complaint against school officials for allegedly doing nothing as regards the crimes allegedly committed against her.
"Pinag-aaralan po namin magsampa ng kaso laban sa OLOPS sa Marikina dahil sa kapabayaan," said lawyer Ariel Inton, legal counsel of the victim's family.
Officials of the Our Lady of Perpetual Succor (OLOPS) College in Marikina denied the allegations, saying they immediately had Dennis Laping suspended and investigated in connection with the alleged abuse.
"What the school offered is to help the child undergo professional counselling," school legal counsel Maritoni Resureccion said in Ivan Mayrina's report on "24 Oras."
"We also offered to arrange home schooling but all of these were only offered. We cannot impose. Unfortunately, these were not accepted by the family of the child," she added.
"Sometimes, these things happen despite... observing all precautions... But we are not shrinking on our responsibilities. That's why we have offered assistance to them," Resureccion said.
The officials also offered to help hunt the coach who remain at large. —NB, GMA News
