NCRPO chief finds sleeping, drinking cops during surprise inspection

National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde on Wednesday ordered the relief of police officers found either sleeping or drinking alcohol while on duty.

Albayalde discovered this after conducting a surprise inspection around 12 midnight Wednesday in Pasay, Muntinlupa, and Makati.

“Talaga namang ‘yung PCP (police community precinct) commander naman ay tulog na tulog pati ‘yung tao niya. Tulog na PCP commander, tulog pa tao niya sa Pasay area,” he said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB.

“Well, ‘yung una nakita natin na naka-half uniform ‘yung tao natin, nag iinuman sa loob ng PCP dahil daw may birthday sa isa nilang tauhan,” he added.

Asked what he will do with the erring police officers, Albayalde said he ordered them to report to his office.

He said aside from relief from post, they will be facing administrative case.

“Pinagreport ko sila sa aking opsina ngayong umaga. Maliban sa pag-relieve may kakaharaping administrative case.  Serious tayo sa ganung ginagawa ng ating mga kapulisan,” he said.

On the other hand, he said he was happy with what he saw in Makati.

“Sa Makati area ay napakaaganda naman. ‘Yung mga tao ay nasa labas lahat at nagpapatrolya,” he said. — Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMA News
