"Makakaasa po sila na wala tayong kinikilingan sa imbestigasyon na 'to, ito po ay isang neutral investigation at kung ano po yung mabibigay nilang testimonial evidence, nandito po ang Manila Police District, homicide section para sila po'y asikasuhin sa kanilang testimonial evidence," MPD spokesperson Superintendent Erwin Margarejo said in an interview on Double b sa News TV.

Aldrinne Pineda was shot by a masked man last Friday at Vitas Slaughterhouse in Tondo. Police Officer 2 Omar Malinao who was on duty as police security at the Vitas Slaughterhouse has since been detained.

Malinao said that he noted the presence of "intruders" in the compound allegedly stealing scrap metal and yelled at them to leave.

Instead of heeding his call, Malinao said they taunted him and even shouted "nandito kami," while waiving their hands, then threw rocks at his direction.

Malinao also claimed that he heard gunshots coming from the group of intruders, adding that he fell to the ground accidentally firing his fun. — Marlly Rome Bondoc/RSJ, GMA News
