SAF commandos deployed at New Bilibid Prison’s medium security compound
The Philippine National (PNP) has deployed its elite unit, the Special Action Force (SAF) commandos, inside the medium security compound of the New Bilibid Prison as illegal activities has remained rampant in the national penitentiary.
More or less 80 SAF troopers were deployed on Thursday to man the medium security compound according to SAF spokesperson Jonalyn Malnat.
In a press statement, the PNP said that a “major clearing operation” dubbed as “Oplan Lightning Strike 2” was also conducted which resulted in the seizure of 54 sachets of suspected shabu, one sachet of suspected marijuana, and various drug paraphernalias.
The suspected illegal drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for further examination and proper disposition.
Also recovered were cash amounting to P81,453 which was turned over to the NBP cashier, several gadgets and appliances, bladed and pointed weapons and other contrabands.
Meanwhile, the seized contrabands are under the custody of the SAF New Bilibid Prison Facility Security Provisional Battalion.
