One-hour fire leaves hundreds homeless in Rizal

Hundreds of families lost their homes to a one-hour fire in Taytay, Rizal on Tuesday night.

A report on Unang Balita said the fire at Purok 15, Meralco Village in Barangay San Juan broke out at past 9 p.m., reaching the fourth alarm before being put out an hour later.

Firefighters said they had a hard time reaching Purok 15 because of narrow alleyways and lack of proper lighting in the area.

At least 200 houses were gutted by the fire.

Perla Pistanio, one of the residents affected by the fire, said the fire could have been started from an unattended candle.

Residents said it was the fourth time Purok 15 was hit by a fire. —report from Bam Alegre/Rie Takumi/ALG, GMA News
