2 Manila hospitals report spike in number of leptospirosis patients

Two hospitals in the city of Manila reported Saturday a rise in the number of patients with suspected leptospirosis cases.

According to Mariz Umali's report on "Balitanghali," the San Lazaro Hospital was monitoring 35 patients showing leptospirosis symptoms.

Although only two cases have been confirmed so far, other patients showed symptoms such as fever, body pain, and reddened eyes.

Meanwhile, nine patients were under observation at the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC), also for symptoms of leptospirosis.

The JRRMMC management said that the number of leptospirosis cases they have recorded as of mid-2018, has already surpassed the whole of 2017 record.
