Using K9 units, authorities combed through Cells 1 to 7, including the cell of the "Bahala Na" gang, to look for illegal drugs, improvised weapons, cellphones, and other contraband.

Under one bed they found a cellphone hidden inside a piece of wood.
Authorities also found improvised weapons such as knives made of wood, pipes, paddles, spoons and forks, and nails.
Jail Superintendent Ermilito Moral said congestion remains a big problem at the Quezon City Jail.
There are currently 3,600 inmates even if the jail was made for 800 inmates only.
Moral said they are trying to address the congestion problem by attending to the cases of the inmates so these will proceed in the courts. —KG, GMA News
